The bride and groom, Taylor & Adam selected Lavender Heights Bed & Breakfast for their wedding. With access to 8 lush acres of gardens, koi ponds, an alcove in the woods and wisteria arbors, Lavender Heights was an ideal petite wedding venue.
What was appealing to you about having an intimate smaller wedding?
Taylor: “Well, I really loved that everyone one there was on my “A-list” – my closest friends and family – but the smaller wedding really took a lot of pressure off me as a bride.”
What are the benefits of having a small wedding for you & your family?
Taylor” “Definitely more time to spend with each person, and if I didn’t get to spend as much time with them, it was ok because these were not Aunt so and so that you only see once every 5 years, but its people who I see on at least a weekly basis with the exception of a few out of town guests. “
Can you tell me about your dress, cake, venue, photographer?
Taylor: “Ah! My dress was just magical! It wasn’t at all what I thought I wanted but when I tried it on I was IN LOVE. It fit in all the right places and after some help from the Simply Modern Bridal team I couldn’t imagine wearing anything else. I really wish there was other occasions appropriate to wear your wedding dress. I’m still trying to find out what that appropriate occasion that might be…lol”
“So I’m not going to lie, The Hubs and I busted into our anniversary cake barely 2 months after the wedding. He just couldn’t wait a full year to taste it again. It was just TOO good! He literally asked me to thaw it out every day! And it looked as good as it tasted. It was a beautiful purple and white and Cakes in Art really outdid themselves!”
“We had our eye on Lavender Heights since Christmas of 2013. We were there for a Christmas party and thought “This place must be gorgeous in the summer!” We were right! I’m so glad it worked out because it was absolutely perfect and beautiful. We could have added not one single decoration and it would’ve been stunning. When I came around the corner to walk down the aisle, I literally gasped and teared up at how lovely everything had turned out.”
“Ok, pardon my French but I freaking LOOOOOVED Mathew Thwing Photography! He was such a joy and was such a blessing to a stressed out bride. He took the most phenomenal photos and Adam and I couldn’t be happier with the work he did. I hope everyone gets to see the “fairytale” shot he took that is our favorite.”
What were some of the highlights of your wedding day?
Taylor: “So many to choose from but I’d have to say, walking down the aisle to the song I picked out when I was 12 was literally a dream come true. My first dance with my husband to John Legend’s “All Of Me” and seeing the look on my Mama’s face when I walked down the aisle.”
Do you have any advice for other brides on make the most of their petite wedding?
Taylor “Slow the day down. Take time to be in the moment. Take in every emotion, sound, smell, and movement. Don’t sweat the small stuff (or even the seemingly big stuff). It will go by so quickly and next thing you know you’re on the 4th day of your honeymoon wishing you could remember every detail. So don’t let setbacks ruin the experience for you and don’t let ANYONE steal the joy of your big day.”
Thank you so much Taylor & Adam for sharing your big day with us! May you be blessed with a lifetime of great health, love, laughter and patience.
