Venue Tour, The Historic Boydville Martinsburg WV

by Kristi Richardson of Bloomed to Last

Several weeks ago I stumbled across a post about the Historic Bodyville now being open for wedding rentals. I was truly excited. I have been in Martinsburg WV for almost 7 years and I have had my eyes on this property. However, when I originally checked on the property it was only being used for tours and once a year for a local wine festival.

Of course, as soon I as saw this post I immediately reached out the new owners for a tour and to learn more. I am delighted to say this historic gem will be a highly sought out wedding location in the Panhandle. John & Meagan are working diligently to restore the entire property to ensure it’s every couples dream and eventually couples will be able to stay in the house overnight.

The house is a jaunt back in time complete with a grand wooden stair case and fireplaces in almost every room. This property has beautiful grounds, complete with a tree lined drive. There is plenty of room for even the largest of weddings being able to house up to 600 guests! There are on-site locations for the bridal party to get ready and multiple places to share your vows. There is an indoor reception space for 50 guests or less, where as, larger parties have ample space for a variety of style of tents.

The back courtyard is quite the spot with tons of party potential. The gazebo could be used to say, “I do” or a place to share your first dance. The possibilities are endless.

Caterer should not worry, as this property is equipped with modern day conveniences for food preparation with easy access to the kitchen.  (I adore that the kitchen still has the original brick fire place and stove used in the 1800’s).

This property is ideal if you are looking to have a vintage, garden, shabby chic, outdoor, or Downton Abbey themed event.  Right now, you can book this location for an amazing price.  Reach out to John or Meagan at ( You can let them know I sent you 😉 )
