To get to Wolftrap Farm I drove about 45 minutes through south Warrenton, Culpeper and then through Orange Virginia. This part of Virginia is covered with farmland, historic homes and some very cool shops & gourmet restaurants. As I pulled onto the country road leading to the farm I was already excited about this tour. The cows were out loudly mooing and there was a pond and perfectly placed farm equipment here and there. A real farm has tractors and other large devices I don’t know the names for but I was very happy to see this working farm equipment. As I pulled up to the historic farmhouse I was greeted by Kieth the owner and Katie the events manager. We took a tour through the farmhouse first, all the while I could hear the cows and horses talking to each other. It was distracting in the most enjoyable way. This is one of the cleanest and well-maintained farms I have visited. The historic farmhouse reminds me of the house in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, with Southern charm & hospitality at it’s finest. It was not stuffy, though, and I felt at home during the entire tour.

Couples that select this wedding venue will get to enjoy lots of space in which to move around. There are several cabins on site and spread out over the property. This would be great for couples to have a bit of privacy away from family & friends. One of the cabins is overlooking a beautiful large pond with a small island. The pond offers peaceful beauty, fishing and a breeze over the property that is romantic and relaxing. One of the features I love about Wolftrap Farm are the ceremony sites, too many to list but brides & grooms have lots of options here. Wedding receptions take place in the pavilion, a sweet stroll from the cabins and farmhouse. The pavilion is rustic and large with views of the fields & mountains. When a reception is in full swing the side doors can be opened for even more views and cooling breezes. There is so much room to have a big celebration here.

This farm venue with barns, ponds, cattle, horses, history and gorgeous views is ideal for an entire weekend. Families choose Wolftrap Farm because it is beautiful but also because it is the ideal setting for a once in a lifetime celebration where two families will become one. The owners & staff have provided activities that will help your guests find fun ways to connect and enjoy their time here, like fishing, biking, bonfires, strolling and of course relaxing. I absolutely love this farm, it feels so warm and inviting.

Some information directly from the venue:
“Simple, beautiful, private and affordable – Wolftrap Farm offers a stunning site for outdoor weddings, with accommodations for up to 34 guests in the Manor House and three luxurious cottages. If you have been looking for a venue where you can have a true weekend celebration with your loved ones with you on-site and have the place all to yourself, you have found it at Wolftrap Farm. (Please check our separate page on this website for information on our Elopement Packages and Small Weddings.)

Our Pavilion offers you a beautiful, rustic, indoor/outdoor reception facility, with a lovely dressing room, a warming kitchen for your caterer, and an adjacent hilltop ceremony site. This former equipment barn has been transformed into the perfect rustic and informal wedding reception space, complete with stage and dance floor, adjustable lighting options, ceiling fans and lawn area. (Please go to the Weddings and Events – Details/Packages page of our website for pictures of and more information about the Pavilion. Also, please visit our Facebook page by clicking on the box below. There, you will find many pictures of weddings at the farm, links to blogs about weddings at the farm, tons of reviews, etc.)

One of our ceremony sites is pictured above. From this site, or from the new hilltop site, the wedding guests face the tree-covered first range of the Southwest Mountains. There is also a Pond-Side site that provides a special charm for nature lovers.

Since the wedding party, family and closest friends may stay on-site in the Manor House, Pond House, Milker’s Cottage and Servants’ Cottage, many couples organize their rehearsal dinners on the farm as barbecues or cookouts, using either the Pavilion or the shore of the pond. Bridal luncheons are often held under the large covered patio of the Servants’ Cottage.

The ponds full of bass and bream, the Play Barn with its pool and ping-pong tables and other games, the rope swings, the horseshoe pits, the miles of woodland trails and the pastures adorned with beautiful horses assure that every generation from the children to the grandparents will be thrilled.”
